Do increased flow rates in displacement ventilation always lead to better results?

چکیده
Indoor ventilation is essential for a healthy and comfortable living environment. A key issue to discharge anthropogenic air contamination such as CO $_2$ gas or, of potentially more direct consequence, airborne respiratory droplets. Here, by employing numerical simulations, we study mechanical displacement with wide range rates $Q$ from 0.01 0.1 m $^3$ s $^{-1}$ person . For this scheme, cool lower zone established beneath warm upper interface height $h$ , which depends on weak ventilation, find the scaling relation $h\sim Q^{3/5}$ suggested Hunt & Linden ( Build. Environ. vol. 34, 1999, pp. 707–720). Also, $_{2}$ concentration decreases within regime. However, too strong becomes insensitive ambient averaged towards value. At these values concentrations pollutants are very low so further dilution has little effect. We suggest that scenarios arise when vertical kinetic energy associated flow significant compared potential thermal stratification.

Increased Natural Ventilation Flow Rates through Ventilation Shafts
Buoyancy-driven natural ventilation in ventilation shafts is investigated with a small scale physical experiment within a duct and CFD simulations of an office building. For a fixed exhaust opening, smaller shafts lead to higher flow rates in upper floors of a multi-story building with a shared ventilation shaft. These higher flow rates are caused by increased vertical momentum within the small...
متن کاملWill Flow Experience Lead to Better Outcomes in Online Shopping?
This paper reports the results of a study examining users’ perceptions of flow and outcomes in online shopping. Three characteristics of flow activities and six dimensions of flow are predicted to affect outcomes as measured by perceived usefulness, pleasure, and behavior intentions. Results show that flow affects all outcome measures. Implications for future research and practice are discussed.
متن کاملDo Competitive Advantages Lead to Higher Future Rates of Return?
Economic theory suggests that firms can gain competitive advantage, thereby impeding the normalization of risk-adjusted returns relative to industry peers. Thus, these advantages directly impact a firm’s future profitability as well as the assumptions incorporated into forecasting and valuation models. This paper utilizes realized operating performance, adjusted by estimates of operational risk...

Background. Education is usually associated with improvement in health; there is evidence that this may not be the case if education is not fully utilised at work. This study examines the relationship between education level, occupation, and health outcomes of individuals in rural Malaysia. Results. The study finds that the incidence of chronic diseases and high blood pressure are higher for te...
متن کاملDoes Information Technology Always Lead to Better Firm Performance? The Role of Environmental Dynamism
In recent years, there has been considerable interest in whether and the extent to which information technology contributes to firm performance and business value. Using the resource-based view of the firm, recent research highlights the notion of IT capability of the organization and finds that higher IT capability leads to superior firm performance. This study, however, argues that one has to...
